Biography

Nico Drew is a British contemporary fiction author who writes heartfelt and funny stories about the beautiful mess of modern life.

His debut novel, The Middle Swipe Crisis, is a character-driven story that explores the humour and heartbreak of divorce, the chaos of dating in your forties, and the awkward art of starting over. He believes that the most difficult moments are often the funniest, and he crafts narratives that find the extraordinary in ordinary people's lives.

My Story

I’ve always been drawn to stories that feel real. The ones that don’t shy away from the fact that life is complicated, people are flawed, and sometimes the only sensible response to a full-blown disaster is to laugh. My writing is born from that perspective, that even in the middle of a midlife crisis, there's a unique brand of comedy waiting to be found.

After navigating my own share of life's ups and downs, I wanted to write a single dad novel that was honest. A book that acknowledged the loneliness and the struggle, but also celebrated the resilience, the friendships, and the unexpected moments of joy that get us through. That’s how The Middle Swipe Crisis came to be.

My Writing

If you're a fan of authors like Nick Hornby who find the profound in the mundane, you'll feel right at home here. I write humorous fiction that aims to do more than just make you laugh; I want it to make you feel seen. My books are for anyone who has ever felt like they were faking adulthood, for anyone who believes in second chances, and for anyone who appreciates a story with a healthy dose of dry, British humour.

Whether it's a character's internal monologue about a disastrous first date or the quiet desperation of trying to build IKEA furniture, my goal is to create worlds that are deeply relatable and authentically human.
